Stop drudge updating internet dating code words
Most browsers allow you to turn off the automatic feature without much difficulty. Check the box marked "Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page." Pages will now not automatically update and instead will ask you to click an on-screen prompt when you are ready for an update. Click on the extension icon (a white circular arrow in a red hexagon) at the top of the screen when you want to stop a page automatically refreshing.
Note that the icon only appears when you visit a page that uses automatic refreshing.
Maybe this is done in an attempt to load more banner ads or something, but it gets on my nerves when I keep losing my place as I am reading articles.
So, in my attempt to find an easy way to stop the Drudge Report website from refreshing every second or so (OK, maybe not EVERY second), I came across a nifty little plugin for Firefox that allows you to blacklist websites and thus stop them from running scripts.
For the HTML Meta auto-refresh, it can only be disabled if the browser supports it.
Let’s see how we can disable it in Firefox and Internet Explorer. Scroll down the list until you see the entry “Allow META REFRESH”.
In this case that also meant that Drudge no longer refreshes while I am reading the news.
Since I have updated firefox I now get automatic updates, as I have a poor/slow connection and because I simply do NOT want updates automatically installed I want to find out how to turn off this annoying"feature". At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP) and then click Options. Everything is white listed by default and you blacklist sites that you don’t want to run scripts. It works great for me, and I have found it to be quite useful. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP) and then click Options. But know, version 7 is in fact either 3.4.2 or 4.0.0 which is stupid.
Previously you knew only the version changes may affect your pluggins/etc and would easily do the minor ones.I am a news junkie, I love to read the news from many sources and (try to) keep up with what is going on in the world.
